I’m the last person who should be side-eyeing anyone with asthma who insists on continuing to smoke—I’m right there with y’all! If you’re not trying to get bronchitis once every couple of months, I have some herbs to mix with your bud (and other tips at the end) that should help.
1. Mullein Leaf
Mullein leaf has really been having a moment lately in stoner circles, and rightfully so! She’s uncannily good at clearing phlegm right out of your lungs. While she’s most potent and effective in tea form, you can still see some benefits if you mix it in with your cannabis.
2. Peppermint
Say it with me now: if it smells minty, it’ll help relax your lungs! Peppermint is not only safe to smoke, but she also adds a potent minty flavor to help you be alert and ready to go.
3. Marshmallow Root
Marshmallow root serves a similar function to mullein leaf without being as potent, making her ideal for day-to-day use. Since she smokes so smooth, she’s a perfect mixer if you’re adding in harsher herbs (such as lavender)
4. Chrysanthemum
Chrysanthemum is a known detox herb, perfect for purging inflammation and phlegm from your lungs. She also has a sweet, gentle flavor that I adore (similar to roses but easier on your lungs).
5. Mugwort
Not only is her sharp, minty flavor so good for your lungs, but she’s also a fantastic herb for sleep. If you’re trying to be more intentional about lucid dreaming and also not coughing yourself to sleep, mixing some mugwort in your bowl is the move.
