I Would Become Religious for a Shred of Pain Relief
420-friendly solutions for menstrual pain (before you resort to going back to church)
Happy Tuesday!
Great news! I’m officially an actual prescribed medical cannabis patient (as opposed to what I was doing—using recreational-grade cannabis medicinally)! This opens me up to a broader range of products and solutions, so stay tuned for me to get even more creative on here.
How many of y’all have debilitating period cramps? It’s fine, this is a safe space, I’m bedridden for days 1 and 2 more months than not. Shit’s rough, and to make matters worse, lower estrogen levels while actively menstruating means your tolerance is skyrocketing! Nobody has the kind of budget to pound bowl after bowl in hopes of feeling literally anything at all, so here are some more cost-effective ways to help.
1. RSO (Rick Simpson Oil) Oil
Yes, it’s a similar vibe to saying ATM machine but hear me out! This actually changed my life (be careful though because it might have ruined my edibles tolerance—not sure yet). The girlies on Reddit and Tiktok swear by putting it on the rims of their menstrual cups or discs, but if you’re a bit squeamish about going the suppository route you can also put it in your belly button. I’m not sure why the belly button works—it just does. Taking it as an edible is also an option, my default is putting about 50-150mg worth on my ibuprofen (this dosage accounts for higher tolerance while menstruating—please lower your dose if you are not actively bleeding. I’m not responsible for you seeing the hat man).

2. Infused Bath Bombs
Whether or not this will get you high depends on whether it’s transdermal or just topical—I’ll go more in-depth on that difference at a later date. Either way, the double whammy of a 1:1 CBD:THC bath bomb with the hot bath water is instant relief for my cramps. Tip: if you have a bath tray, make it a whole weed bath with your favorite piece or a nice joint and an infused beverage.
3. High-Temperature Dabs
You had to know I was going to say it by now. If you want fast, hard relief, you need a fast, hot dab. The higher the temp, the harder it’ll hit you, and you don’t need to waste product for the sake of terpene integrity when you have period tolerance going on. Trust me. I’m the terpene queen and I’m giving you permission to forego terpene preservation for the sake of pain relief.
4. Maybe Don’t Rely on Edibles
The validity of this advice really depends on the dose of your edibles. If they’re high-dose (like 50-100mg per piece), you can honestly just ignore this part. If they’re low dose, either skip them for this week or lean on the beverages. You’ll be hit harder at a lower dose if it goes in sublingually instead of digesting. Not certain the drink will work as a sublingual? Swish it around in your mouth for extra measure.
Hopefully this helps make your periods more bearable for a lower cost. See y’all Thursday!
